Skinny Decarbonisation – a smarter, leaner way to tackle energy and carbon savings

Our “skinny” approach to decarbonisation costs clients 50% less than traditional methods, helping you achieve net zero more cost-effectively. We support you at every stage—from strategy and funding to business case and project delivery.

Issues that organisations are facing:

Whilst there is significant pressure for organisations to reach net zero by 2035 – 2040 they are facing significant challenges, including:

  1. The aging estate that requires investment and difficulties in how to prioritise.
  2. Budgets being stretched and insufficient funds to do what needs to be done
  3. Working to decarbonisation targets with the resources they just don’t have.
  4. Struggling to justify spend on decarbonisation projects with no ROI
  5. Complaints about poor working environment and pressure on space and the need for expansion

The Solution

Skinny Decarbonisation is a proven process that uses live granular data to measure and profile energy usage, space utilisation and air quality to pinpoint specific areas of focus and improvement including fabric, M&E systems and controls. This is then packaged up and shared with a compliant supply chain in competition to encourage innovation and cost efficiency and will deliver guaranteed savings using the live performance data as a base line.

Key Benefits

The Skinny Approach will deliver the following benefits:

  • Capital costs up to 50% less than traditional approach
  • Revenue cost savings of up to 30% against traditional approach
  • Guaranteed savings
  • Customer and staff retention, happiness and well-being
  • Real time (usage and consumption) data to reduce energy, maintenance and management costs

Ensuring compliance with Salix funding criteria involves verifying that contractors, procurement processes, and sustainability objectives adhere to public sector regulations and cost-saving targets.

Salis also require a dedicated point of contact to be responsible for responding to queries, and updating progress reports and payment requests during project delivery to strict deadlines. Procurement processes must remain competitive and transparent.
